We’ve collected the best of the best right here, in one convenient place. Fun with Animals & Nature

Cub Creek Science Camp

Cub Creek Science Camp has more than 300 animals including lemurs, foxes, porcupines, wallabies, parrots, sloths, lizards and many more in our hands-on, interactive zoo. One of our popular activities is Adopt an Animal, where campers spend every day of the week learning how to take care of an animal of their choosing at camp. Campers also love our Junior Vet program where they learn how to suture and give injections (using fruit as the “patient”) and watch a surgery performed by a veterinarian at camp! Classes in archery, pottery, culinary science, survival skills, and digital photography and on the ropes course help to make for a wonderful time at camp. Dickerson Park Zoo

Dickerson Park Zoo’s camps and classes are available throughout the summer and provide unique learning opportunities for tots to teens. From animal inspired art classes to veterinary medicine, the world is the classroom at Dickerson Park Zoo. Z.E.B.R.A. camps and classes are designed to instill a lifelong love of learning as well as demonstrate how everyone can help protect and care for animals.

Got a future farmer on your hands? Train them young at Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park with hands-on, interactive experiences with farm animals and agriculture. 2018 Wrangler Worship Day Camps at Sac River Stables promote spiritual growth, horsemanship, and educational fun for ages students from kindergarten up. Camps are supervised by CHA-certified riding instructors at a CHA-accredited indoor/outdoor riding facility using well-trained horses. Campers will be instructed on numerous equine topics, along with daily non-denominational devotions, and praise songs. Horses, tack, helmets, any equipment needed for riding, and Bible class materials provided. Family discounts available. Spaces are limited. Valley Water Mill Equestrian Center

If your child loves horses, sign up early for horse camps at Valley Water Mill Equestrian Center! There’s beginner, intermediate and advanced camps that run Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.–5 p.m., for kids age 7-17. It’s a hands-on, interactive experience. Your child will care for an assigned horse for the week and participate in lessons and performances based on skill level.

Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium

Dive in this summer with an Edventure at Wonders of Wildlife. Experience the wonder, from June through August, discovering the wild side with summer camps. Your camper will learn about many of the creatures and habitats at Wonders of Wildlife, while testing their survival skills, encountering live animals, exploring nature, and creating memories. From ages pre-K to high school, campers will learn through games, crafts, experiments, and more during a summer they will never forget! Summer programming focuses on academic success, good character & citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. Developmental Center of the Ozarks

DCO offers creative-play and hands-on learning experiences in its center-based child care program for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years.

An emphasis on kindergarten-readiness and reaching developmental milestones guides curriculum. Summer youth work program is designed for high school students with developmental disabilities seeking a skill-building focused program. Contact your school counselor for information and a referral for Vocational Rehabilitation to be part of this program.

Discovery Garden Montessori School

Experience Farm to Fun at Discovery Garden Montessori School this summer! Campers will  experience and explore the process of growing what we eat, from the farm or garden to our table. Creava Arts’ Summer Art & Clay Camps provide children with art experiences unlike any other in the Springfield area! Children are given the opportunity to create meaningful works of art in professional art studios while engaging their imaginations through a rich curriculum of visual art activities. Each camp is taught by experienced artist-instructors. New themes each week allow campers ages 6-12 to work with clay and a variety of two-dimensional media. Looking for a little summertime inspiration for your creative child? Kids draw, build, collage, paint, sculpt and weave their ideas into masterpieces at Art Camp! All sessions include an array of projects that encourage experimentation, expression, and the joy of creating original art. In addition to hands-on artmaking, campers explore the Springfield Art Museum’s exhibits and its collection, which includes over 10,000 objects, through games and activities. Art Camp runs Tuesday through Friday, and full and half-day options are available for kids ages 5-10. We offer one session exclusively for kids ages 10-14. Springfield Ballet offers exciting day camps and evening classes this summer for the littlest ballerina to the serious dance student. Daytime camp, a Junior Intensive and a Senior Intensive offer learning experiences far beyond the barre. In addition to dance, students will enjoy music, drama, nutrition, anatomy and more. A special demonstration at the end of the week showcases the dancers’ hard work. Register for camps/each intensive before May 11 and receive a 10 percent discount. Rick Grayson Golf has great golf camps for children ages 5-17. Each camp is directed by Rick Grayson, Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Member and Mid-West Section PGA Junior golf leader for the last seven years. Tri Golf (ages 5-10) is for boys and girls who have never played golf. The Tri Golf camp includes balls and clubs for the juniors. Another great camp is the USGA-LPGA Girls Camp (sorry, no boys) for ages 7-17 years. If your junior golfer is playing and wants to improve, the Rick Grayson Youth Camp is a sure-fire way to improve his or her game. Rick has been conducting junior golf camps for more than 40 years. The Betty Allison at Rivercut and the Betty Allison at Oscar Blom are unique party places for summer birthdays. When you’re at the Betty Allison at Rivercut, check out the golf-themed playground at Betty’s Clubhouse.
