29th Annual Japanese Fall Festival, Springfield

September 5, 2025 - September 7, 2025

Springfield is celebrating its Japanese culture with its sister city, Isesaki, with a fun filled festival on September 5-7, 2025 at the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden. This festival is bringing Japanese culture right to Springfield with performances of Japanese art, dancing and music, souvenirs and traditional clothing, and delicious food that is popular in Japan.

What’s at the festival?

  • Performances by Samurai Sword Soul
    • The Samurai Sword Soul is the headliner of this year’s festival. They are a New York-based theater group showcasing traditional sword fighting with comedy and drama.
  • Authentic souvenir and snack tents
    • There will be a variety of Japanese food and snacks to choose from as well as a Tea Cafe.
  • Dance performance by KiRa KiRa
    • Enjoy dance covers in the form of cosplay.
  • Japanese drumming performances
    • There will be two drumming groups this year performing for you to enjoy.
  • Hologram Show hosted by Springfield Cosplay
    • The show will be on Saturday and Springfield Cosplay will have its own showcase on Sunday.
  • BENTENYA
    • Japanese Chindon girls will perform music on their journey to meet new people and share Japanese culture.
  • Kizuna Japanese American Friendship Group
    • Local group that works to build Japanese and American friendships. They lead a lot of the Japanese festivals stalls and events.
  • Large-scale calligraphy by Seiran Chiba
  • Yukata Try-On
  • Candlelight Walk and Wishing Lanterns
    • Enjoy a night-time stroll with torch-lit garden pathways and wishing lanterns on koi ponds.

How much does it cost?
Tickets can be purchased at the gate with cash or card.

Friday: $9
Saturday: $14
Sunday: $9 and $4 for person in cosplay

Only $4 for children ages 3-12 all three days!

 

Tickets must be purchased the day of attendance.

Members of the Springfield Sister Association get in free all weekend!
Membership pricing ranges from $10 for a student to $60 for a family. Charged annually.

Friday 5 pm-10 pm
Saturday 11 am-10 pm
Sunday 11 am-6 pm

Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden, 2400 S. Scenic Ave., Springfield, MO

It’s a park so pets are welcome!

 

Traffic/Where do I park?

The park staff will let you know where to park when you arrive. The parking spot may or may not be paved. Please let the staff know of any mobility concerns to help with parking placement.

To help with the flow of traffic there will be no left turns entering or exiting the park.

Starting August 4, West Sunshine Street will be closed for four months. This may call for a route alteration on your way to the park.

Parking is free!

 

Want to Help?
If you would like to volunteer for the Japanese fall festival, you can apply on their website peacethroughpeople.org. Any age is welcome but they recommend that ages 15 and under are accompanied by an adult.
Volunteers get free admission on the day of their shift!
